The Comenius partnership we want to initiate, called "Our world of our rights" (acronym WR) will bring together students (aged 10-16) from 8 schools in 6 countries across Europe aiming at discovering the way of living and everyday school life of the European fellow participants by exploring children's rights integration and implementation in own country and the partner countries. The participants will exchange approaches regarding children's rights issues and will create a space where they experience and develop activities a
nd materials related to this topic.
Within the first year project we intend to perceive the reality of today children in the participating countries, thus developing an understanding of what it is to be a child in the 21st century Europe. Children will present their life in own region, country and school, will analyze their relationship with their peers and the adult world and explore children's rights and duties through the study of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the specific legislation in each country.
The second year will focus on pedagogical materials (created by a joint European team of teachers and students) that could be at the basis of an optional course on child's rights or of delivering educational lectures for parents: Manual of the Good Teacher, Manual of the Good Parent, Children's Manifesto, virtual game on children's rights. The virtual game on children's rights will be piloted in all partner schools and the results of the piloting will be disseminated on the project site.
We estimate the project will help promoting and defending children's rights in all the institutions involved and will broaden understanding of Europe and European citizenship.
